Empowering Minds with Science!Learning by Doing

Xraise Cornell is Public Engagement for CHESS, the Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source. The keystone of our mission is to empower people with science, a charge our staff, scientists and students take seriously. We engage minds by facilitating direct interaction with physical phenomena and encouraging careful observation of the world. We stimulate thinking and develop the next generation of scientists.

Exploring New Phenomena

Xraise facilitates direct experiences for kids, teachers, and the general public. These consist of hands-on explorations that embrace the same processes that experts practice at our world-class laboratory. Like the accelerator itself, Xraise sheds new light on how we look at the world.

Designing Devices

Xraise provides design-based, student-centered learning opportunities that allow students to connect their existing science knowledge to real-world challenges. These activities encourage students to integrate their own ideas, utilize feedback from direct experiences, and modify their designs based upon experimentation. Xraise integrates scientific processes with engineering practices to enhance the learning experience.
